Raipur: The High Court of Chhattisgarh heard the writ petition filed by suspended Indian Police Service (IPS) officer GP Singh, on Thursday.
In the context of GP Singh’s petition filed for interim relief, the Court instructed the state government to present the case diary that was recovered by the ACB during their raid. As per information by Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), the dairy included coded words along with names of several officers and MLAs.
On demands of the HC, a team of four Raipur police including Inspector Mohsin Khan of Raipur City Kotwali police station visited GP Singh’s official residence in Raipur with search warrants. After a six hour long search operation, it is reported that GP Singh’s laptop, CPU and some documents were recovered that included information about the police department. A Technical team also accompanied the Raipur Police that gathered electronic evidence from the spot. A detailed study of the evidence recovered from the residence will be conducted by the Raipur IT officials.
After being suspended on July 5th, a case of sedition was registered against GP Singh by the ACB based on the documents recovered from his residence. On 9th July, GP Singh had filed a petition in the High Court seeking an enquiry. On the 13th July, an application filed by ADG GP Singh for anticipatory bail was withdrawn in a lower court in Raipur. The Chhattisgarh High Court has scheduled the next hearing of the case on Tuesday 20th July.
