Raipur: Since the formation of the Vishnu Deo Sai government in Chhattisgarh in December 2023, pro-active operations have been carried out. While answering an important question in the Lok Sabha, the government informed about the deaths of soldiers due to heart attack and other diseases in Naxal-affected areas. Between 2019 and 2023, 577 soldiers of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) and Assam Rifles (AR) died due to heart attack and various diseases in Naxal-affected areas.
According to government data, during these five years, the soldiers posted in Naxal-affected areas suffered from various health problems, including heart attacks and other serious diseases. The government has expressed concern over the health conditions of the security forces.
The report said that the reasons for the death of these soldiers include extreme stress, difficult living conditions and challenges of Naxal-affected areas. The government said that it is paying attention to this issue and plans have been made to take steps to improve the health care of the security forces. The government said in Lok Sabha that special attention would be paid to the health and security of the soldiers. Better health facilities and stress management programs will be arranged for the security forces.
At least 80 Naxals have been killed and more than 125 arrested while 150 have surrendered in this year so far in Chhattisgarh, where 29 ultras were gunned down two days ago in a fierce encounter with security forces, officials informed in April 2024. Left Wing Extremism-related violence has declined in the country by 52 per cent and the number of deaths by 69 percent from 6,035 to 1,868 in 2014-23 compared to 2004-14, according to Union Home Ministry data.
