Chhattisgarh: Chhattisgarh Police has taken big action after Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel directed strict action on illegal liquor. The police raided the Balrampur and Koriya districts of the Surguja division and seized 50 boxes of English liquor whose price is more than 3 lakh 21 thousand from a pickup. Stumbling upon the vehicle smugglers have also tried to mount their vehicle on policemen due to which TI and constable have been injured.
Taking action against the smugglers, the police tried to stop the vehicle, but the smugglers left the vehicle at the spot and managed to escape by taking advantage of the darkness and fleeing towards the dense forest. In this episode, the Raghunath Nagar police station of Balrampur got information that a pickup filled with illicit liquor is coming from Madhya Pradesh towards Chhattisgarh. The police immediately siege and confiscate the vehicle.
In this case, police said a total of 44 boxes of Goa English Liquor, 2 boxes of Makadwal number one and 4 boxes of Mirinda totalling 450 liters have been recovered from the vehicle. Action is being taken against the smugglers under section 34(2) of the excise act and other sections. Meanwhile, Manendragarh police have also arrested 4 liquor smugglers after a siege on Janakpur road. 40 boxes of English liquor worth Rs. 14 Lakh 60 thousand have been seized from them.
