Gadchiroli: In a massive encounter between the police and Naxalites, in the morning killed four Naxalites on the Chhattisgarh-Maharashtra border. There was firing from both sides in this encounter, wherein the soldiers killed four Naxalites. After searching the incident site, the soldiers recovered several weapons including an AK-47 from the spot. The matter has been reported from Gadchiroli area.
The Naxalites killed there have been identified as DVCM Varghish, Mangi Indraveli Area Committee Secretary and Kumuram Bheem Mancherial Divisional Committee Member, DVCM Magtu, Secretary, Sirpur Chennur Area Committee, Platoon member Kursang Raj, and Platoon member Kudimetta Venkatesh.
According to the information received, Maharashtra Police had received intelligence that a big Naxal group is hiding in the forests of Gadchiroli from Telangana to carry out a major crime in the Lok Sabha elections. After this information, special C-60 commandos of Maharashtra Police and CRPF commandos started the operation.
Meanwhile, during a search this morning in Kolamarka mountains, 5 km away from SPS Repanpalli, Naxalites fired indiscriminately on a team consisting of four C60 parties, to which the C60 teams responded strongly. After the firing stopped, the area was searched and the bodies of four male Naxalites were recovered from the spot. Besides this, 1 AK47, 1 carbine, and 2 country-made pistols, Naxalite literature, and accessories have also been recovered. At present, the search operation is still going on in the area.
