Thirty-one Naxalites were gunned down and two security personnel killed in a fierce encounter in forests of Bijapur district of Bastar division in Chhattisgarh on Sunday morning. According to the information, it was reported that a big Naxalite group has reached the area. After which a team of DRG, STF and Bastar Fighters left. It is being told that on seeing the soldiers coming, the Naxalites started firing. In the encounter, the soldiers surrounded and killed 31 Naxalites. The bodies of 31 uniformed Naxalites have been recovered.
2 soldiers have been martyred in the encounter. 2 soldiers were injured, whose condition is out of danger. They were taken to a higher center for better treatment and their treatment is ongoing. Search operation of soldiers is going on in the area.
Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai has congratulated the entire team of soldiers for the success in the encounter. He has saluted the courage of the soldiers. He expressed grief over the martyrdom of two soldiers and said that the sacrifice of the soldiers will not go in vain. The end of Naxalism, which is like a cancer in the country and the state, is certain.
Police-Naxalite Encounter Update: State Home Minister Vijay Sharma has congratulated the soldiers for the great success in the encounter. However, his tweet was released when there was news of 12 Naxalites being killed. Now the number of Naxalites killed has increased to 31.
