Varanasi: Three members of a family were killed while one person was injured seriously when a car collided with a roadside tree near Maddhughutara Pokhara village in the Babhani area of Sonbhadra district on Saturday. The injured person was admitted to the hospital.
According to reports, the victims, all residents of Surajpur in Chhattisgarh, were going to Rajasarai village in the Babhani area of Sonbhadra district in a car to attend Holi celebrations. When the car was crossing through Maddhughutta village, the driver lost control over the car, which collided with the roadside tree. Two persons died on the spot, while one person succumbed to injuries at the hospital during treatment.
According to police, the killed persons were identified as Maanmati Dubey (70), Devrupi Dubey (55) and Naveen Dubey (24). The injured person Upendra Dubey was taken to the community health centre (CHC) at Babhani, from where he was referred to Ambikapur. The bodies were sent for postmortem.
Meanwhile, one Rajeev Ranjan Singh (37), resident of Patna (Bihar), drowned in the river Ganga while bathing at Lalita Ghat in Varanasi on Saturday. The NDRF team fished out the body and handed it over to Dashashwamedh police.
