Korba district; Chhattisgarh: Around 3 lakh Rupees have been stolen from the Customer Service Centre of SBI bank located Rampur, a police official said on Sunday. As per the information received by officials in the know the thief broke into the vault of the bank at around 2am on the intervening nights of Saturday and Sunday.
The incident came to light after a group of people from Swetha Nursing home noticed the miscreant breaking into the bank through the balcony and dialed the police immediately. Acting on the tip-off a team from Emergency Response Support System and police officials from Rampur Outpost and Kotwali police station rushed to the spot. However, the accused managed to escape, locals who witnessed the theft said.
Investigation is being carried out based on the CCTV footage. It is being suspected that the accused ran into the forest leaving behind Rs 40,000. Interacting with the reporters Customer service officer Vikas Singh Rana said that new accounts were opened in the same facility that provided services like deposit, withdrawal and transfer.
