Raipur: On 14th and 15th September, in Mahasamund, Baloda Bazar, Gariaband and Dhamtari districts under Raipur range, the drugs seized under NDPS Act were destroyed legally. In this operation, more than 23,000 kg of ganja was destroyed by burning.

This destruction action was carried out under the orders of the Home Ministry and the Narcotics Control Bureau, as per the instructions of the high-level drug disposal committee constituted by the Police Headquarters. Inspector General of Police Raipur Range Amresh Mishra (Chairman), Senior Superintendent of Police Dr. Santosh Kumar Singh, and Dhamtari Superintendent of Police Anjaneya Vaishnav were present. This destruction was done at a private power plant located in Silatra, Raipur.

22,631.269 kg of ganja in 443 cases of Mahasamund district, 224.650 kg of ganja in 5 cases of Baloda Bazar, 328.768 kg of ganja in 8 cases of Dhamtari and 309.226 kg of ganja in 16 cases of Gariaband were destroyed by burning in the furnace after permission from the Public Safety and Environment Department.
