Raipur: In a significant success in the Naxal-affected region of Sukma, security forces achieved a major breakthrough as they apprehended two Naxals, uncovering a substantial quantity of explosive materials in the process. The successful operation took place in the Fulbagadi police station jurisdiction within the Sukma district.

The arrested Naxals, natives of the Bijapur and Sukma districts, were affiliated with the People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA), an armed wing of the Communist Party of India (Maoist). The People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army has been actively operational for the past 18-20 years in the region, contributing to the perpetuation of Naxal activities.

The Fulbagadi police station, along with support from the Area Committee (ACM), dispatched a team to the designated area based on credible information. The security forces, comprising the District Reserve Guard (DRG), District Police Force, and Central Reserve Police Force’s 02nd Battalion, collaborated seamlessly to carry out the successful operation.

Apart from the arrests, the security forces seized a cache of explosive materials from the possession of the apprehended Naxals. The recovery included a significant amount of explosive substances, highlighting the potential threat these individuals posed to the peace and security of the region.

The arrested Naxals are believed to be key operatives with deep-rooted connections to the local communities in Bijapur and Sukma. The joint team, comprising the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), District Police Force, and Anti-Naxal Special Intelligence Branch, meticulously planned and executed the operation to ensure the safety of the security personnel and the local residents.

This operation signifies a crucial step in the ongoing efforts to counter Naxal insurgency in the region, showcasing the dedication and effectiveness of the security forces in maintaining law and order.
