At least 17 people were killed after a pickup vehicle overturned in Chhattisgarh’s Kawardha area on Monday.
A group of 25-30 people from the Baiga tribal community were returning in a pickup truck after the collection of traditional Tendu leaves.
The vehicle fell into a 20 feet deep ditch near Bahpani area. The Baiga community is involved in the business of bidi making, for which they collect Tendu leaves. Tendu leaves come out in the month of March and are collected in May. These leaves are used for rolling bidis
