Gariaband: It has been more than 3 months since paddy procurement ended in Chhattisgarh. Even after this, 100% paddy lifting has not been done in 42 centers of Gariaband district. The reason behind this is shortage of paddy. Angered by this negligence, Collector Deepak Aggarwal has written a letter to the Cooperative Registrar to remove the nodal.
The government had given instructions for 100 percent lifting of the paddy purchased in the centres, so that 37 percent commission amount could be given to the centers by the government. There is still 29,380 quintals of paddy to be lifted from these centres, but only 18,000 quintals of paddy is available in the centres. Due to shortage of paddy in the centres, millers have not lifted the quantity even after a month of issuance of DO. 1,1 thousand quintals are yet to be lifted in centers like Latapara, Ghumarguda, Chichia, Borsi, Bhasera, Parsada Kala, Kundelbhatha. Apart from this, there are 21 centers which have to provide more than 200 quintals of paddy.
At the same time, the quantity of paddy in the Chichiya procurement center is much less than the quantity recorded in the records, due to the poor quality of what is available, the millers are not harvesting it.
Collector Deepak Aggarwal, being angry due to negligence in work even after the order in this case, has issued a letter to the Registrar Cooperative Societies, Nava Raipur on May 1 to remove the Nodal Officer of Purchase Control Prahlad Puri Goswami. He has written in the letter that Nodal did not show interest in the preparation, physical verification, gunny bags arrangement, storage and security arrangements for paddy procurement. Apart from issuing centrally controlled tokens during procurement, there has been negligence in the work of final disposal and inspection.
Earlier, the Collector, citing this negligence, wrote a letter to the Departmental Secretary on April 9, 2024, to stop the 5 percent expenditure amount given by Markfed to the Cooperative Department as bank expense in proportion to the total paddy purchase.
