Kolkata: The CBI on Thursday took the dental impression of Sanjay Roy, the main accused in the rape and murder of a 31-year-old trainee doctor at the state-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. As per a report by a news agency, Sanjay Roy’s dental impression was made during interrogation at the Presidency Correctional Home, where he is lodged during the investigation process.
A CBI official said that as per the post-mortem examination report, the bite mark was found on the body of the victim; Roy’s Dental impression can be of great help in the case. The post-mortem report we produced pointed to the fact that we had bite marks on the body of the woman, and we then intend to compare the bite marks with the dental impression of the accused,” the official said.
Sanjay Roy, a civic volunteer with the Kolkata Police, is the only person who has been arrested so far in connection with the rape and murder case. The CBI started investigating the event after receiving a directive from the Calcutta High Court.
On Wednesday, CBI officers recorded a new interrogation session with Sanjay Roy at the correctional center. At the same time, another group from the central agency questioned four junior doctors working in the said hospital. While recording their statement as a part of the overall probe, the CBI also interrogated Kolkata Police Deputy Commissioner (North) Abhishek Gupta and Deputy Commissioner of the Detective Department (Special) Vidit Raj Bhundesh to get details of how the first level investigation process of the police was undertaken.
It was on August 9 that information about the gruesome occurrence came to a head when the dead body of a female postgraduate trainee doctor was found in a seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. The next day, Sanjay Roy was arrested in connection to the crime that happened, and this led to massive outrage and more pressure for the investigations to be carried out properly.
