BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari has 25 criminal cases registered against him as per his recently submitted affidavit to the Election Commission. Most of these cases originated since he left TMC in 2020. By contrast, Suvendu’s income has increased by over 200% since 2020. In 2020-21, his income was ₹8,13,170, while in 2024-25 the annual will have risen to ₹17,38,590.

Adhikari’s report shows that his movable assets (e.g., vehicles, cash and securities) and immovable assets (e.g., real estate) have decreased markedly from 2021 to 2026 – for the same period, he has shown a decline of ₹59,31,647 in movable and ₹61,30,000 in immovable properties respectively.

Adhikari is running from Nandigram and Bhabanipur in the upcoming assembly elections in West Bengal where he won against Mamata Banerjee 2021. His affidavit from 2021 indicated his only pending case was connected with the Narada News press release that had disclosed that he received funds from a fictitious company for favours that he extended prior to the state assembly elections held in May 2016.

Since joining the BJP in December 2020, Suvendu has had a growing level of cases against him that include charges of various criminal activities, including intimidation, attempted murder, riot, discrimination against a particular group (eg., religious or ethnically), causing religious hurt, making a casteist statement and wrongful restraint.

In December 2022, the Calcutta High Court also provided him protection by directing the authorities to refrain from filing any cases against him without first obtaining a prior consent. In addition to that, in October of 2025 the Calcutta High Court set aside a total of 15 previous complaints filed against him, while at the same time lifted the restrictions imposed against him from filing new complaints.

Adhikari was unresponsive to telephone and text communications.
