According to the latest official disclosure, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has stated his total movable and immovable assets of 1.65 crore which have recorded a slight growth of approximately 68,455 over last year.

On Wednesday, the asset information of the Chief Minister and other Bihar government members were posted by the government of Bihar on the official government site. It is also a compulsory disclosure that needs to be done on the final day of each calendar year by all ministers in the process of transparency norms.

According to the declaration, Nitish Kumar possesses 20552 cash and bank deposits in different accounts of about 57800. He has approximately 17.66 lakh as his total movable assets. They are personal possessions and a car, which portrays a small asset base, as many political leaders have.

The disclosure also shows that Kumar has one residential flat in a cooperative housing society situated in Dwarka, New Delhi. The property is appraised at 1.48 crore, and this forms the major portion of his total assets. No more land or residential properties have been put on his name.

Besides financial and property holdings, the Chief Minister has also claimed to have a car worth 11.32 lakh. Curiously, the statement of assets states that he has 10 cows and 13 calves, and this indicates that he is still related to the rural force and owns livestock.

Nitish Kumar had a reported total assets of 1.64 crore in 2024, which is a few years more than what was reported in 2023. Authorities pointed out that the low growth is a sign of the comparatively unwavering character of his financial investments.

The purpose of the annual disclosure of assets is to increase transparency and accountability in the life of the population by giving citizens an idea of the financial position of the elected representatives.
