On Saturday, Bihar BJP President Dilip Jaiswal categorically ruled out the speculation on the seat-sharing among the partners of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), saying that any official announcement would be made by the leaders of the five alliance partners. He rejected the numbers that were going around social media as unfounded and stressed that the decision to give the seat to share and the declaration on the seat sharing would be made by the topmost leadership of the NDA.
In an interview with the media, Jaiswal made it clear that no single party has given out any figures and that the decision would be made unanimously. He added once again that the news and assumptions that are being spread online are not true and should not be taken into consideration. In his opinion, everything to do with seat-sharing is being done at the very core of the leadership of the NDA, and the new arrangement will be made known at the right moment. He also highlighted that the unity in the alliance was together and has been developing in general, with rock-solid unity, meaning that the internal coordination is strong and stable.
Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary joined Jaiswal in the same vein, saying that negotiations between the alliance partners are at the last level. He said that deliberations are almost over internally and that all the pertinent information will be provided in the foreseeable future. Chaudhary pointed out that the partners were not at loggerheads as well and all the parties have made their opinions constructively and all are contented at the developments.
With Bihar on the eve of the next electoral battle, the political environment is getting more intense. The polls will be a direct contest between the ruling NDA and the Mahagathbandhan headed by the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). At present, the NDA has a majority of 131 seats in the state assembly of 243 members, and the Mahagathbandhan has 111 seats. As both alliances start to fight the battle by planning their strategies, a formal agreement on the distribution of seats will be vital in determining the dynamics of the campaign and candidate positioning.
