On Tuesday, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu declared a 100 crore reward to any scientist in the state who would win a Nobel Prize in quantum science, as an indication of the government commitment to creating a world-level scientific research. It was announced during the lecture by Naidu on quantum technologies in Amaravati that is being built as a global center of quantum innovation.

At some time earlier on, our government had offered 100 crores to any Nobel laureate of Andhra Pradesh. In the event that this success is made possible by quantum technology, we are more than willing to offer the same incentive, Naidu said, pointing to the fact that the state was eager to be the first to achieve success in new fields of science.

He described the proposals of the Amaravati Quantum Computing Centre that will become the foundation of quantum research and innovation. The CM notes that the centre will maximize the quality and quantity of research placing Andhra Pradesh on the centre stage of next-generation technologies. The program is one of several plans to establish a complete quantum ecosystem in the state, including quantum computing devices research and development and manufacturing.

Naidu highlighted the potential transformation of quantum technology in various fields especially in the field of healthcare. Personalized medicine and prevention and cure healthcare solutions can be achieved with the help of quantum applications. The quantum technology is able to transform how we solve scientific and technological problems with increased speed, precision, and performance, he said.

The other point he emphasized is the need to have a first-mover advantage in quantum innovation. In case it is a breakthrough technology or a significant scientific revolution, Andhra Pradesh will be first. We shall not be led by other people, he said.

Besides the research, the CM said that it would produce quantum computing equipment in the state in less than two years.
