Out of 90 newly elected MLAs of Haryana Assembly, out of the total 90, 86 are crorepatis, which is 95.56%, according to a survey done by the Association for Democratic Reforms and Haryana Election Watch. This is a rise compared with the preceding assembly election in 2019, wherein 93% of the MLAs were crorepatis. Also, 12 or 13 percent of the MLAs are said to have criminal cases against them.

The study shows that 44% of the MLAs have assets more than ₹ 10 crore of worth, and 2.2% have shown their assets below ₹ 20 lakhs. The total assets of the successful candidates have also risen by leaps and bounds to an average value of ₹24.97 crore from ₹18.29 crore in 2019.

Going by the party, the association mapping reveals that 96% of BJP legislators, 95% of Congress MPs/MLAs, and 100% of INLD and independents have reported having assets summing more than ₹ 1 crore. Savitri Jindal of Hisar, as an Independent MLA, boasts total assets of over ₹270 crore. Second in line is BJP’s Shakti Rani Sharma, with a total asset of ₹145 crore, and Shruti Choudhry, with a total asset of ₹134 crore.

The net worth of these 30 re-elected MLAs in 2024 has risen from ₹9.08 crore to ₹14.46 crore with an increment of 58% Since 2019. This also shows financial development in the last five years, implying that growth has recorded impressive financial progress.

As for criminal records, the study determined that 12 of the candidates have reported having criminal records, with six of them facing serious charges…one of the candidates was accused of attempted murder. This is slightly higher than that of seven candidates whose election body had serious criminal allegations in 2019. 19% of Congress, 6% of BJP, and 67% of independent MLAs who were successful in the assembly election declared that they had criminal cases against them.

Also, the assessment reveals that 28 out of the candidates produced winning liabilities of ₹1 crore or more.
