Four people died, and two others, including a driver, have gone missing as their car fell into a river in the Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir. The fatal accident happened in the Paddar region when the car skidded off the road, turned over the hill and plunged into a river. Most of the people involved are still missing, and to date, rescuers are trying to search for the bodies of the other victims and identify the missing persons.
The police have not been able to point to the vehicle that caused the accident, and other information on the victims is still pending. The missing passengers are still stranded, and the rescue operators have not given up trying to pull the victims from the water.
Society has been thrown into a state of surprise, and different people have expressed several sentiments of sorrow. State president Mangat Ram and MP Jitendra Singh, union minister and Udhampur MP, regretted the loss of lives. On X in the post, he said, “It is sad to learn today that 4 of the passengers who were in the bod of the vehicle have been found dead on the spot. Other two persons, including the driver, are still being searched for. My condolences to the affected families.”
Jitendra Singh also affirmed that he had proceeded to talk to Kishtwar DC Rajesh Kumar Shavan for prompt action after a report of the accident. The minister has assured the families of the affected a word of support and has urged authorities to respond quickly to the situation.
Details surrounding the subject accident have not yet been identified, and authorities are yet to find out whether it was occasioned by unfavourable weather conditions or the road, among other possibilities. This becomes an exponential factor for the consequence since the rescue operation is still in progress, and the search for the missing people goes on.
