Buldhana: A tragic incident involving a bus carrying devotees from Andhra Pradesh, coming from Nashik to Shirdi for Dev Darshan, crashed with a stationary truck in Buldhana district of Maharashtra, leaving 35 people injured, and the bus driver also died reported on Friday. The accident had taken place near Malkapur, and when emergency responders arrived at the site of the crash, they found the injured.
10 people were admitted to the Buldhana Civil Hospital for treatment of their respective injuries, and 3 have been reported to be in critical condition, who were admitted at the Civil Hospital last night, said Station House Officer (SHO) Sandeep Kale of the Malkapur Rural Police Station. First aid was provided at the scene or at nearby health centers to the rest of the injured.
10 patients are admitted to the Civil Hospital on the basis of confirmation of Dr. Ananta Magar that the devotees were from Andhra Pradesh who were going on the Nashik and Shirdi pilgrimage. “Unfortunately, their bus met with an accident and injured 35 people.”
According to reports, the victims were on a spiritual journey when their bus was hit by a parked truck, causing a severe impact with multiple injuries. Authorities have launched a formal investigation into the crash, including whether all the right warning signals were given before the truck was left parked.
This is another such sad event that follows another unfortunate tragedy, too, in Kerala on April 16, when a bus ferrying 42 Lord Ayyappa devotees met with an accident at Kanamala village in Erumeli in the Pathanamthitta district. It was a fatal crash that in turn killed a 40-year-old devotee, Maruthi Harihar, who died alongside fellow devotees, as vehicles carrying huge groups of Indians to the shrine have long been criticised for their safety.
Incident in Maharashtra shows the necessity of stricter safety measures and thorough vehicle inspection, especially of buses carrying pilgrims on long interstate journeys. Following the ongoing investigation, authorities are due to share more details.
