The long-awaited time has come, and the final of the Women World Cup 2025 is now underway, and the India of Harmanpreet Kaur is set to make the history of cricket. Between them and glory is South Africa, that have demonstrated tremendous form and grit during the tournament. The climax will be held at the Dr DY Patil stadium in Navi Mumbai on Sunday and will be a fierce battle between two most powerful teams in the women cricket game.
The two teams go to the final with confidence following great semifinal victories. India beat the defending champions Australia in an exciting match and South Africa delivered a formidable performance to beat England. The hosts, having not lost a single match at the venue of Navi Mumbai have a chance to continue their domination at home. South Africa, conversely, will be making their debut in the venue in this tournament, an aspect that may prove difficult, but which they will take with an easy time.
South Africa had earlier in the group stage beaten India in Vizag by a memorable comeback in a match led by Laura Wolvaardt. In pursuit of a hard-earned total, the unbeaten hit by Nadine de Klerk assisted the Proteas in winning the match in the last few overs and it shows that they have what it takes to uproot the Indian team. Things however are quite different in the final on Sunday and that requires calmness, tactical genius and nerves of steel.
India have the better record in this regard, with a record of 20/34 in ODIs against South Africa, South African having been victors in 13 matches and the other match being a draw.
The latter one will be aired live on the JioHotstar app, and shown on the Star Sports Network, as millions of fans will watch the world over whether India with Harmanpreet Kaur will finally defeat the ultimate goal of women in the world of cricket.
