India begins the Women’s Asia Cup with a stumping victory of 41 runs defeating SL 109/9 in 18.2 over who chose to field first. The eighth edition of the Women’s Asa cup began today with India squaring off against Sri Lanka in the second game of the tournament.

At 2.2 overs, Smrithi Mandhana was bowled by De Silva. Her opening partner soon followed suit thanks to a sensational catch on the ropes by Malsha Shehani. However, Jemimah Rodrigues has since put India on top with a masterful half-century. Her captain Harmanpreet Kaur has played second fiddle perfectly well and the pair have put India firmly in the driver’s seat going into the last four overs Jemimah took the stroke, adding fours and six’s to the score. The first six of the tournament was hit by Jemimah. The partnership broke at 115/3 in 15.5 overs.

India is in great form currently, as they’re backed with a Commonwealth Games silver medal and a historic win against England in the white-ball format. The Women in Blue will look to continue their winning momentum. India has won the title record six times and eyes to extend their streak this season as well.
