Golden moments scripted in Indian cricket history as Kohli basked the glory of his 100th Test at Mohali today. Virat Kohli is part of the men in blue today, who are locking horns with Sri Lanka for a Test Series.
Former Indian Captain, Team India coach and of course Kohli’s favourite childhood cricket hero, Rahul Dravid felicitated the centurion ahead of the match in presence of the entire team, family and Kohli’s lady love. Rahul Dravid delivered an exceptional speech before presenting Virat Kohli with his commemorative cap and a glittering memento.
“It’s a testament to everything that is great in our sport… sweat, discipline, courage, skill, determination, desire, focus, you had it all. You had a great journey. You can be very proud of not only playing the 100th Test match but also for the great journey that you have navigated through. Congratulations to you and your family on this fantastic achievement. It’s well deserved, well earned, and hopefully, it is just the start of many things to come. As we say in the dressing room, double it up,” Dravid said before presenting the cap to Kohli.
Kohli receiving the appreciation thanked his childhood coach, family, teammates and BCCI for the support in his journey. From the BCCI, president Sourav Ganguly, secretary Jay Shah, treasurer Arun Dhumal and vice-president Rajiv Shukla were in attendance.
Virat Kohli became the 12th Indian cricketer joining Gavaskar, Dilip Veng Sarkar, Kapil Dev, Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman, Virender Sehwag, Harbhajan Singh and Ishant Sharma to play the 100th Test. The right-handed batsman amassed 7,692 runs in 99 Tests at an average speed of 50.39 with 27 tons to his name. Debuting in 2011, Kohli spearheaded ferociously and became Indian cricket’s reigning superstar.
