New Delhi: India gets another blow heading to the T20 World Cup in Australia as Deepak Chahar has been ruled out of the tournament due to back injury. Sources reveal that Chahar will miss the tournament due to fitness issues. Pacers Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, and Shardul Thakur will fly to Australia on Thursday. BCCI tweeted the arrival of Indian cricket team to Australia.
Chahar was ruled out of the South Africa ODI series due to back stiffness and Washington Sundar was named as his replacement. While Siraj and Shardul were not on the radar for the marquee, Chahar and Shami were named in the T20 World Cup.
Chahar was among the stand-by players who were expected to make the main squad in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah, but it is understood that his injury is going to take time. He will now be monitored by the medical team of National Cricket Academy (NCA).
India will play the second ODI on October 9, 2022 and the final ODI of the series on October 11, 2022. Shikhar Dhawan will be the captain of the squad; Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, Rajat Tripathi, Rahul Tripathi, Ishan Kishan, Sanju Samson, Shahbaz Ahmed, Kuldeep Yadav, Shardul Thakur, Ravi Bishnoi, Mukesh Kumar, Avesh Khan, Mohd. Siraj, and Wahington Sundar.
