Rumours about the future of Virat Kohli in the Indian Premier League (IPL), and with the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) franchise, are categorically disapproved by India cricket player Mohammad Kaif. The speculation came into the limelight when Kohli was reported to have not extended his commercial relationship with the team to the next season of the IPL, which created a lot of debate amongst fans and media. Although there have been speculations of RCB ownership every now and then and the high-profile campaigns the team has launched after their title chase, there has been no official confirmation as to whether they changed the franchise ownership and the playing plans of Kohli.

Since the beginning of the IPL, Kohli has been part of RCB, which is already 17 seasons old a record in the history of the IPL. During the time of his career, he has repeatedly stated that he is loyal to the team and he would never play in another franchise. Nonetheless, in the recent past, there have been rumours that Kohli was not keen to renew his commercial contract thus creating doubt as to whether he would remain in the league or not.

Interfering to explain what was going on, Kaif pointed out that there was a difference between a player contract and a business transaction. When asked about the devotion of Kohli, Kaif stated, Is Virat Kohli quitting IPL? No, guys. Virat had given a pledge that he would only be playing his first and final game with Bengaluru. He has kept that vow and he is not going to retreat. The speculations that he is not signing a commercial contract do not involve his player contract and have no bearing on his involvement in the field.

The statement issued by Kaif was aimed at convincing the fans that Kohli was wholly loyal to RCB and that the conjecture that had been raised about him was unjustified. His continued service to the franchise and his dependability in the field have placed Kohli firmly in the next season of the Indian Premier League and the doubts regarding his attachment to Bengaluru are finally resolved.
