Rohit Sharma led men in blue kicked off the open-top bus parade from Marine Drive. Fans turned up in numbers and danced to the tune of India’s success. A huge crowd of fans gathered yesterday evening to cherish India’s win at T20 Men’s World Cup. As a swarming crowd of cricket fans congregated Marine Drive, several fans were injured during this victory parade, according to Mumbai Police.
“I was coming from the office when I came to know about the victory parade between 5 PM to 6 PM. The crowd kept increasing and the possible was unable to tackle the situation”, said an eyewitness Ravi Solanki.
A victim who fell unconscious during the victory parade, Rishab Mahesh Yadav said that the crowd was increasing to the level it felt choked and he became unconscious. He further claimed that the police was not so alert as the crowd was more than necessary.
As the parade reached Wankhede Stadium, players met fans and gave them balls and autographs. Menwhile, the trophy was presented to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) office bearers and President Jay Shah.
BCCI rewarded the Indian team with a cheque of Rs. 125 crores and facilitated the team concluding the parade.
