The organizers of the Tokyo Olympics on Friday said – “The Japanese government is ‘fully focused’ on hosting the Tokyo Olympics this summer”. Notably, the showpiece event was postponed in 2020 due to the global pandemic.
The Japanese government, in its announcement on Friday, has announced the dates of the Tokyo Olympics. The government has scheduled the event to start from July 23 and continue till August 28 of the ongoing year. Besides, the Paralympics have been scheduled for the time between August 24 and September 5 of the same year.
Reportedly, the Prime Minister of Japan, Yoshihide Suga has decided to have the event held this year. The organizers of the games, in their recent statement, have revealed – “All our delivery partners including the national government, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, Tokyo 2020 Organizing Committee, the IOC and the IPC are fully focused on hosting the Games this summer. We hope that daily life can return to normal as soon as possible, and we will continue to make every effort to prepare for a safe and secure Games”.
It is noteworthy that, in November 2020, Thomas Bach, the President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) had given his words to the athletes to give the experience to remember in the next Tokyo Olympic Games.
Bach’s statement was – “You will never ever forget these moments in the Olympic Village in all your life. And with the conditions our Japanese friends are offering here, the experience will be even more fantastic. This is the place to be nine months from now”.
