Sports: Ace badminton star PV Sindhu recently grabbed headlines for getting a bronze medal in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. With this medal, she is now India’s first woman to hold the record of having two medals at the Olympics. Now that she has acquired such great heights in her game, she wants other youths to come forward and get all the necessary guidance to excel in badminton. So she has decided to open a badminton training school at Visakhapatnam.

Sindhu has long been playing badminton and so she understands that the youth in India is lagging behind in sports due to improper infrastructure. She went on to visit the Tirumala temple in Andhra Pradesh after her return from Tokyo and when approached by a leading daily she said, “I’ll start a training academy at Visakhapatnam very soon for youth, with state government’s support. Many youths are lagging behind in sports as they don’t have proper encouragement”.

Now that she has two Olympic medals in her repertoire, she is still not deterred to keep the chin high with her future performances. She says she will continue focusing more on her game and prepare herself for the next Olympics. “I will definitely play in Paris (2024 Olympics) and will give my best and play 100 percent. We have a lot of time. Currently, I’m enjoying the moment and cherishing it”, she said cheerfully. She thanked her coach for her performances and expressed the desire to train every talent that comes for training in her academy.
