Barbados: Team India is stranded in Barbados after the T20 World Cup 2024 win led by Rohit Sharma, where they have to face hurricane warning. The Men in Blue won the prestigious T20 World Cup trophy for the second time in Barbados. After a stunning display of effort and skill, they beat South Africa by seven runs.
Now, the team India is in the Hilton Hotel as Hurricane Barbados is approaching, and it is expected to arrive this Sunday at the local time. Due to this, the airport will be closed, and a curfew in the city will be implemented.
Jay Shah, the secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), spoke about the issue to the media, stating that the team is ‘stranded’ in Barbados. ‘Like you, we are also stranded here’, Shah was quoted as saying and after the travel plans are spot on, a decision on the felicitation would be made.
Summing up the last game, team India won the toss and decided to bat, as will be seen from the balanced narrow at the bottom of this scorecard. At one point, they were reduced to 34/3, a twist which was salvaged by a Kohli-Axar 72-run stand. Kohli then joined Shivam Dube, and the two added 57 runs for the fifth wicket to stabilise the innings before India was restricted to a reachable 176 for seven in 20 overs.
They have tested and trusted bowlers Maharaj and Anrich Nortje, both of whom picked two wickets for their side. Marco Jansen and Aiden Markram contributed with the wicket of the respective batsman.
South Africa needing 177 more to win its innings was a shaky one; Amla Lange and the team were struggling, sitting at 12/2. However, it was not over until a gallant 58-run fightback by the South African pair of Quinton de Kock and Tristan Stubbs. The fifty overs of Heinrich Klaasen then was a major Blair to India’s chances. However, a strong finish by Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, and the captain Hardik Pandya to the death overs managed to bowl South Africa to 169/8 in the said number of overs.
