The climax to the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup semi-final between India and England has been built in a certain way due to unfavourable weather in Georgetown, Guyana. While the New York pitch conditions were stable and perfect to initiate the Indian cricket team, the weather in Guyana has something in store to challenge; otherwise, it was an interesting match. Two years back, during the same stage in the T20 World Cup, India was taking on England at Adelaide, which was a match that Indian cricket fans would wish to erase from their memory. This time, the Men in Blue get the opportunity to redeem themselves on a wicket that seems to be prepared for their kind of cricket. However, overcast weather conditions and the probability of rainfall also remain an issue on the day, especially in view of how it impacts the match.
India has been in good form and looks like a confident unit at the moment. Given the favorable intent that is visible in the team, they are the likely favourites despite the possible weather hiccups. Accuweather has suggested that there could be a probability that the beginning of the semi-final match will be postponed due to rain. The chances of rain are expected to be about 66 percent at 10 AM local time, which is half an hour before the commencement of the match.
These are signs that with the forecast of ‘mostly cloudy with shows’, the probability by 11 AM rises to seventy-five percent. The weather is forecasted to be slightly better by mid-day, ‘showers’ will be omitted, and the probability of precipitation is to be reduced to almost 49 percent.
From 12 PM to 3 PM, local time is ‘partly cloudy’ with a 35-40 % chance of rain. This window is the most appropriate time when a bigger proportion of the match can be completed. There are predictions that showers may occur at about 4 pm with rain probabilities crossing 50 percent, which is recurrent till 5 pm. There is a subsequent decrease in the rain probability to 20-30 percent between 5 PM and 7 PM, though the general forecast is ‘cloudy’.
