A momentous and nail-biting match saw Afghanistan qualify for the Semi-final of the T20 World Cup for the first time ever, narrowly defeating Bangladesh by eight runs. Filled with tension as it was interrupted by rain several times during the match, this fight was full of unexpected turns and records that made the spectators sit on the edge of their seats till the end.

Afghanistan also posted 115/5 in 20 overs, and their last hope, captain Rashid Khan, hit a six at the end of the innings, which increased their winning chances in this game of the T20 World Cup 2024.. In their respective powerplays, Afghanistan failed to make the most of it, scoring only 27 runs. However, this slow start meant that they only had to scramble for a decent score in regards to their batting towards the fag end of the game.

Afghan Captain Rashid Khan won the toss and decided to bat, which was also the only change made by Afghanistan from the previous winning squad against Australia. On the other hand, Bangladesh brought a couple of changes in their line-up in an attempt to consolidate their probabilities.

After the end of the Afghanistan innings started, the chase of Bangladesh, the rain was definitely not a good omen, for the players intervened soon after the beginning of the Bangladesh innings. After the interval, Fazalhaq Farooqi immediately impacted Afghanistan by claiming the wickets of Tanzid Hasan, which put Bangladesh under pressure immediately at 31 for 3 in 3.2 overs. But the rain was not to stay away for long, and once more, it started raining heavily again and stopped playing again.

After the game resumed, Rashid Khan became the turning point for the team by taking four valuable wickets soon after the second rain interruption. Naveen-ul-Haq further supported his effort, who bowled a crucial over that produced wickets of Najmul Shanto and Shakib Al Hasan and dragged Bangladesh into deep trouble. Although Litton Das came up with a brilliant fight and was close to a fighting five-wicket haul, the rest of the batting failed him. His fifty at least counterattack, but unfortunately, it was not enough to help Bangladesh achieve the revised target of 114 for a win.
