To the delight of the fans, Sunrisers Hyderabad elbowed their way to the fourth slot in the IPL 2024 points table with a one-run win on Friday. The SRH team restricted RR to 200/7 in 20 overs by great efforts of team bowlers especially B Kumar by taking 3 wickets, P Cummins and T Natarajan delivered 2 wickets each. Furthermore, the RR team’s opening batsmen, Riyan Parag (77) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (67), both scored fifties, so the base of their innings was firm.
First, Nitish Kumar Reddy (76*) and Travis Head (58) appeared to be the real heroes in the first innings, contributing 137 runs, giving SRH a decent score of 201/3. Avesh shrewdly took down the two men in RR.
Following the victory, Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Cummins expressed, “I am good, was an amazing game. That’s T20 cricket. Anything can happen, Bhuvi executed that last ball. You try to take some wickets in the middle. Natarajan is a good yorker bowler, fortunately we got some wickets. Played some games here, thought 200 could have been chased down. He (Nitish Reddy) sums up the conditions pretty well, he’s amazing, great in the field, gives some overs with the ball as well.”
Rajasthan Royals, on the other side, is a good game on the road, thereby proving why they remain 2nd on the IPL 2024 points table with 16 points from 10 games. In the same order of termination of the game, Kolkata Knight Riders (12) and the team Lucknow Super Giants (12) are in the second and third places, respectively. SRH’s boost to 4th position on the points table has caused the drop of CSK (10) to 5th.
Delhi Capitals sits in sixth leather with 10 points, while the Punjab Kings and Gujarat Titans are placed in seventh and eighth position, respectively; both are behind Delhi with 8 points each. Mumbai Indians (6) are stuck in the bottommost rung of the standings, whereas Royal Challengers Bangalore (6) occupy the last spot, with the team plummeting at the bottom of the table.
