Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) started their 2025 IPL campaign with a promising start with a strong 286/6 against Rajasthan Royals, but have fizzled having lost three games after that. Upon the sheets of paper, the Orange Army was once seen as one of the most balanced teams, but now the team is placed at the bottom of the points table. Their explosive batting line-up, which was supposed to win the tournament, has been found wanting in unison, which has been a key reason why they have found themselves on the losing side of poor runs.

A game against Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium — a must-win situation for SRH, who have been sliding away considerably from their successful run so far. But it will not be an easy task. Shubman Gill has led GT to their rhythm after an opening loss to Punjab Kings. That top-order and bowling unit, in particular, bounced back to beat Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore with commanding wins.

Sai Sudharsan and Jos Buttler have both been in rich touch and Shubman Gill has continued to return solid starts. GT’s middle order is not tested yet as the pressure has not continued down but the form of the top order has seen to that. The bowling attack of Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, and even Ishant Sharma has been sharp and versatile. It is interesting that Kagiso Rabada has not been used so far, and the team achieved victories while Rashid Khan wasn’t at his best, which is a bad sign for their opponents if the Afghan spinner returns in form.

SRH concerns are rooted deep. Once explosive duo Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head haven’t fired efforts to be replicated this time around, and Heinrich Klaasen has been written off as rescue for South Africa. And with the likes of Pat Cummins and Mohammed Shami, they did not have a bowling attack on song, combined.
