India batters Shikhar Dhawan and Shreyas Iyer have tested negative for COVID-19 and hence the duo has been cleared to resume training. Navdeep Saini who was selected as a bowler has also recovered and was seen training. Reserve opener Ruturaj Gaikwad is still in isolation and recovering. After testing positive during the regular COVID-19 tests, senior players were shifted into an isolation facility. The Duo had missed the first ODI against West Indies in Ahmedabad.
An official from BCCI confirmed the news on Wednesday ahead of the 2nd ODI against West Indies. Both the players were spotted during a training session in Ahmedabad on Tuesday evening, sources said.
Earlier, before the first ODI against West Indies, Shreyas Iyer, Dhawan, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Navdeep Saini tested positive for COVID-19. The Rohit-led squad defeated Windies by six wickets in the first ODI at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
India would also see KL Rahul who missed the first ODI due to personal commitments would be seen batting in the match today. Captain of the new Lucknow IPL team and wicketkeeper-batter started his ODI career as a middle-order batter and was later promoted to opener.
The second ODI is scheduled at the Narendra Modi Stadium today, the 9th of February.
