On Friday, November 15, the Indian cricket team won the four-match series against South Africa, 3-1. In their series finale, the Indian batsmen put on a spectacular show, scoring 283 runs, the most on South African territory.
This year was an incredible success for the Indian team; this was also the last T20 international of India’s calendar year. India started the year with a win over Afghanistan and then also won the T20 World Cup in the month of June.
The Indian squad, and more importantly, the young players, achieved outstanding performances all year long. India only suffered two losses during the year, one against South Africa in the just-finished series and one to Zimbabwe.
This meant that India finished the year with a victory percentage of 92.7%, which was better than the previous record of 76.9% established by Pakistan in 2021. Pakistan had won 20 of 29 Twenty20 International matches in 2021, whereas India had won 24 of 26 T20I matches in 2024.
While India won the highest percentage of matches in a calendar year, they remained behind their best win-tally, which came in 2022. India won 28 of their 40 Twenty20 International matches that year.
