Lucknow: South Africa defeated Australia by 134 runs in ODI 10 of the ongoing World Cup 2023, in Lucknow on Thursday. Chasing a target of 313 runs, Australia were bowled out for 177 in 40.5 overs, courtesy of a three-wicket haul by Kagiso Rabada. Meanwhile, Keshav Maharaj and Tabraiz Shamsi scalped two wickets each. Marnus Labuschange top-scored for the Aussies with a knock of 46 runs off 74 balls.
Quinton de Kock was in fiery form as South Africa posted 311/7 in 50 overs in the first innings. De Kock slammed 109 runs off 106 balls, packed with eight fours and five sixes, before losing his wicket to Maxwell in the 35th over. Meanwhile, Aiden Markram got a gritty half-century, slamming 56 off 44 deliveries, including seven fours and a six. For Australia’s bowling department, Mitchell Starc and Glenn Maxwell got two wickets each. Meanwhile, Josh Hazlewood, Pat Cummins and Adam Zamba scalped a dismissal each.
South Africa opener De Kock smashed his second half-century against Australia in World Cup cricket. Alex Carey was dropped from the Australian playing XI, and Josh Inglis took his place. Marcus Stoinis, meanwhile, made his much-awaited return by replacing Cameron Green. Australia won the toss and elected to bowl first against South Africa in the World Cup 2023 match in Lucknow.
