India’s cricket team, led by Rohit Sharma, reached Brisbane on Wednesday for the third Test of the Border Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. The series, which is being played in five matches, is 1-1 for India and Australia, and now both teams are preparing for a decisive fight that will begin on Saturday in the legendary Gabba.
Coming to the second Test at Adelaide Oval, Australia dominated the proceedings to win the match comprehensively by 10 wickets. Travis Head was the hero on the day, making a century at his home ground and both Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins made clinical bowling performances to destroy India’s batting order. This succeeded in putting the Australian team on an even pedestal with India after India had won the first Test match.
It was the official social media handle of the BCCI that posted a video of the team on the flight from Adelaide to Brisbane. Players showed up in good spirits as they warmed up psychologically for what is expected to be an epic clash against the Aussies.
The last match of the second test saw India winning the toss and getting on to bat first. But against the pink ball in the night, the team battled, and Mitchell Starc proved a hand. India was again dismissed for 180 in its first innings, although KL Rahul and Shubman Gill shared a 69-run partnership for the second wicket. Another bright spark in the field of batting was a fighting knock by Nitish Kumar Reddy, who scored 42 of 54 balls. The Indian team’s miseries were further compounded by Australian pacers Pat Cummins and Scott Boland, who each took two wickets.
This third Test at Brisbane will offer Team India a chance to come back to the series and be ahead in the most coveted series as Rohit Sharma’s side aims for a win. When the game focus is on the Gabba, the people will be in for a fix of a seemingly evenly matched encounter.
