Rohit Sharma, the captain of the Indian team, is expected to declare his retirement following the five-Test series against Australia. According to the report, Rohit has spoken with the national selectors and key BCCI officials. It seems that he would disclose the news after the last Test match in Sydney.

However, Rohit can ask for more time from the selectors if the team reaches the final of the World Test Championship. After losing the fourth test to Australia, Rohit has said that he needs to focus on his failures. He has made only 31 runs in three Test matches and is likely to walk in the middle for the last time when the two teams meet at the Sydney Cricket Ground. “Thinking about the past is not right? I know the results haven’t gone our way, and as a skipper, that is disappointing,’ he said.

“We are trying to do a lot of things, but nothing is falling into place for us. It is disturbing without a doubt, and I have to solve a couple of things on the personal level as well,” he added.

After the 184-run defeat in Melbourne, India trails 2-1 with one more Test remaining. Rohit started the series at number 6 to allow KL Rahul, one of the in-form Indian batsmen, to open the innings. However, Rohit dropped Rahul to the No. 3 spot and dropped Shubman Gill from the team to make a comeback as an opener. Even this move backfired, and Rohit suffered two failures.
