MUMBAI: Indian wicketkeeper and batsman Rishabh Pant successfully underwent surgery at the Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai on Jan 6th, said a source from BCCI. Pant suffered a knee ligament injury in a horrific accident last week while he was heading home to Roorkee from Delhi. His Mercedez hit the divider and caught fire. He was rescued by the passer by’s.

“Rishabh Pant has successfully undergone knee ligament surgery on Friday. He will be under observation. Further course of action and rehabilitation will be advised by Dr Dinshaw Pardiwala and followed by the BCCI sports science and medicine team,” the BCCI source told. Pant will be kept under observation for 3 to 4 days at the hospital in Mumbai.

Pant was shifted from a Max hospital in Dehradun where he was admitted by eyewitnesses. He was later airlifted to Mumbai as he was not in a condition to take a flight. The cricketer is said to have escaped the near-fatal accident narrowly. He will require plastic surgery to recover from the burn injuries on his body.

The wicketkeeper is expected to keep away from cricket for a long time now.
