Despite the recent tensions at the India-Pakistan border halting things briefly, the IPL will restart on Saturday with RCB facing KKR at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. As teams prepare for the playoffs, we are in for a great match, filled with excitement, drama, and eyes will be on Virat Kohli, who is returning to cricket after retiring from Tests.
Currently, RCB are in second with 16 points after 11 games, but a win could make sure they make it to the playoffs. Unlike Mumbai, KKR are currently sixth with only 11 points accumulated in their matches. If they lose, the defending champions will have little chance of making it to the knockout stage, so they must win this game.
The break of ten days has interrupted the pace for both teams. RCB won their last four IPL matches, making them the top candidate going into the game. It’s good news for the hosts as Rajat Patidar, the skipper, was looking in good form during nets after recovering from an injury. His being there will encourage the team to believe in themselves.
At the same time, KKR need to get back in action right from the first stages. Even with two wins in three games, they need to regain their best shape in order to beat RCB, who are recovering well.
With Phil Salt, Lungi Ngidi, Tim David, Liam Livingstone, and Romario Shepherd back, the teams now look more powerful. Yet, Devdutt Padikkal and pacer Josh Hazlewood will be absent from RCB’s lineup due to injuries. Mayank Agarwal will be relied on to give the Royal Challengers stability in Padikkal’s absence.
