RCB have made a dream start to the season with nimble victories in the first two matches, they were played away from their home. Their first victory was against the defending champions on their home turf, and the second one of the most dominant victories against one of the most successful teams in the league history. Most notably, their victory at the latter’s stadium was their first ever on the ground since the league’s first touchdown.
For instance, Gujarat Titans (GT) have previously shown glimpses of brilliance in their matches but have managed to win only one of their two previously held matches. They nearly pulled off a record chase of 244 in their opening match against Punjab Kings, thus displaying their firepower with the bat. While they had a good outing, they bounced back effectively well in their next match, where they beat Mumbai Indians comprehensively in Ahmedabad with an all-round performance.
RCB, as ever, will try to let their batting lineup do the talking, but Virat Kohli would be eager to regain his form after a moderate run against Chennai. The Bengaluru stadium has always been a happy hunting ground for him as he has nearly 3,500 runs on his name in IPL runs. At the top, aggressive starts have been provided by Rajat Patidar and Phil Salt who have been in outstanding form. In the IPL and international cricket, however, Liam Livingstone’s form remains an issue. However, RCB is seen as a team that would retain their winning combination.
Sai Sudharsan has been Gujarat’s standout bat performer, while captain Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler are both promising. In their last match, their pace attack with Mohammed Siraj, Kagiso Rabada, and Prasidh Krishna was deadly against Mumbai Indians. They will want to repeat their performance in Bengaluru’s first home game of the season.
