RCB star player Virat Kohli has been fined 10 percent of his match fee after his team competed against CSK at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Monday. As per the advisory issued by the BCCI, Kohli was found guilty of breaching the IPL ‘code of conduct’ as RCB slumped to an 8-run loss against the four-times champions. The advisory further added that the right-handed batsman admitted to the Level 1 offense under Article 2.2 of the IPL Code of Conduct
There is no specification of the incident, however, reports speculate Kohli’s exuberant celebration of CSK batter Shivam Dube’s wicket attracted him a fine. Dube was slumped by Mohammed Siraj in the deep during the 17th over when he was threatening to take the game away from RCB.
Meanwhile, the CSK- RCB Match on Monday, breached all records, clocking the highest concurrent viewership of 2.4 crores on JioCinema. On a surface that was an absolute belter, the fifties from Devon Conway (83 off 45) and Shivam Dube (52 off 27) powered men from Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s over-the-home team bowlers to 226/6.
While CSK bowlers took wickets at crucial junctures RCBs’ inability to cash in on the dropped catches made the winner stand apart.
RCB opening pair on Monday failed to provide an early impetus as Kohli departed early. After hitting a boundary against left-arm pacer Akash Singh, the former RCB skipper got unlucky, when the ball hit him off the bat and ricocheted into the stumps, forcing him to walk back to the dugout in the very first over of a mammoth chase of 227 runs.
With Mahipal Lomror following soon after, RCB were reeling at 15/2. Skipper Du Plessis, who was dropped on 0, and Glen Maxwell (76; 36b; 3×4; 8×6) put in the hard yards to pull RCB out of the woods with their quickfire 126-run association for the third wicket.
With RCB needing 68 off 36 deliveries, Du Plessis miscued Moeen Ali and Dhoni collected the skier. That was the beginning of the end of RCB’s victory march, Dinesh Karthik (28) provided a fleeting hope but did not stay long enough to justify his finisher tag.
Meanwhile, Convey and Dubey tore into RCB bowling with a ruthless attack display of power hitting and remained unbeaten. Dube played a quick knock of 52 from 26 balls and was dismissed by Wayne Parnell. Ajinkya Rahane’s 20-ball 37-run cameo shifted the momentum. With CSK sailing, Wanindu Hasaranga accounted for Rahane, who was bowled by a googly. Dubey’s elegance and timing highlighted by Conway’s power and footwork tread the yellow team to victory.
