RCB has become famous in sports history by accomplishing a feat no one has ever done in the 18-year history of the IPL. After defeating Lucknow Super Giants by six wickets at the Ekana Stadium, RCB became the only team ever to win every away game in a traditional home-and-away season.

As a result, RCB became the first team to have as many as seven victories away from home out of seven matches since the IPL began in 2008. Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians each got seven away victories in 2012, but Royal Challengers Bangalore became the team to achieve a perfect away record this year.

The victory meant RCB ended the league stage in second place, gathering 19 points from all 14 of their games. Their place in the results was decided by net run rate, as they had the same number of points as the leaders. Because of this finish, they can play in the IPL final twice. On May 29, they will take on Punjab Kings in Mullanpur during the first qualifier.

RCB were able to reach the big target of 228 runs in Lucknow with eight balls to go. Jitesh Sharma, who was standing in for Marcel Ntleja, smashed an unbeaten 85 off 33 deliveries with eight boundaries and six sixes. Virat Kohli added a calm 54 as he and Phil Salt (30) pushed Delhi for a useful first-wicket stand of 61. A great effort from New Zealand fast bowler Will O’Rourke midway through the innings was followed by a 107-run, unbeaten partnership between Jitesh and Mayank Agarwal.

At first, Rishabh Pant helped Lucknow to 227/4, scoring an unbeaten 118 off 61 balls, but RCB continued their outstanding run.
