Star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been excited by the fact that he has made a big transfer out of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to Rajasthan Royals (RR) in advance of the 2026 version of the Indian Premier League. The governing body of the IPL approved the mega in nature deal on Saturday, which saw Jadeja acquired by the Royals at a cost of 14 crore, and Sanju Samson being fetched by CSK at 18 crore.
England all-rounder Sam Curran was also bought by the Royals in CSK at 2.40 crore, strengthening their team in the season ahead.
In the case of Jadeja, the transfer is an emotional comeback to the team he first appeared in the IPL. This was my first platform and first taste of victory, as I said in an official statement, the Rajasthan Royals gave me both, Jadeja. My return is special, and it is no longer a team, but as though a home. Rajasthan Royals is the place where I experienced my first IPL, and I will win more with the team of players that I have at present.
Jadeja was the player who played in the first two seasons of the IPL, playing as a vital part of the team under the legendary captain Shane Warne, and the captain once called Jadeja a rockstar. In 2010, he was suspended for trying to negotiate a trade on his own, but he revived his career in CSK, becoming one of the most influential players in IPL.
Since he joined CSK in 2012, the 36-year-old has been part of their success as seen in the legendary final title match in 2023 when he broke 10 runs with the final two balls to beat the Gujarat Titans.
Having played 254 IPL matches, Jadeja is a very versatile and experienced player who offers the Royals a level of experience unknown before. The move was welcomed by RR Director of Cricket, Kumar Sangakkara, who said, “It is unbelievable that Jadeja is returned. He is familiar with the franchise, the fans and has become a game-changer. His coolness, experience, and competitiveness will bring huge value to our team.
It would seem that the Royals are now prepared to have a great 2026. Being back in pink would mean that they have their seasoned all-rounder.
