New Delhi: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi organized a meeting with the Paralympic Games 2024 Indian medal winners at his residence on Thursday, and his meeting with gold medalist Navdeep Singh has now gone viral. PM Modi shared a video from his meeting on X.
The Indian Para athlete, whose silver medal was converted into a gold medal in the aftermath of misconduct from Iran’s Sadageh Sayah Beit, is one of the seven Indian Para athletes who grabbed a gold medal at the Paralympic Games 2024.
The Indian contingent made history by securing a remarkable total of 29 medals, including seven gold, nine silver, and 13 bronze, marking the nation’s best-ever performance at the Paralympics.
A 43-second video shared by the Sports Ministry captured the moment as the Prime Minister congratulated the medal winners, interacted with them, and celebrated their exceptional accomplishments.
The event was graced by Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and the President of the Paralympic Committee of India (PCI), Devendra Jhajharia, both of whom joined the Prime Minister in recognizing the athletes’ achievements.
However, unlike the other Para athletes, Navdeep Singh made headlines for other reasons as well, as many of his clips circulated all over the internet and went viral. In some of the clips, the Javelin thrower was caught abusing in excitement, which for hilarious reasons, caught the attention of Indian people, and people who understand the language ‘Hindi’.
In other clips, the Men’s Javelin Throw – F41 Final gold-medalist was giving an interview in the aftermath of his historic feat, and when asked about his conversation with his coaches, the 23-year-old had an interesting reply.
Upon being unsure and unaware of his Personal Best throw, Navdeep Singh asked his coach to swear on the fact that the Para athlete broke his own record by stating “Khao Maa Kasam”.
