Istanbul: India’s Nikhat Zareen progressed to the 52kg final at the IBA Women’s World Boxing Championship in Istanbul, Turkey on Wednesday. Nikhat beat Brazilian Caroline De Almeida by a unanimous decision in the semifinal.
In the summit clash, Nikhat will face Thailand’s Jutamas Jitpong.However, Manisha Moun’s campaign ended with a bronze after she lost her 57kg semifinal by a unanimous decision to Italy’s Irma Testa. Later in the day, Parveen will face Irish Amy Sara Broadhurst 63kg semifinals.
The 25-year-old, a former youth world champion, is enjoying a great year having clinched the gold at the prestigious Strandja Memorial Tournament in February. Later in the day, Manisha Moun (57kg) and Parveen Hooda (63kg) will compete in their respective semifinals.
