Gandhinagar: Siva Subramanian cleared the bar at 5.31m taking home a gold medal at the ongoing National Games. Rewriting his own national record, 26-year old Shiva said that it was hard to move without his former coach, but his focus was not to let his coach let down. Siva has now broken the national record four times since first disturbing it in 2017.
Meanwhile, Praveen Chitravel wins Trimple Jump Gold and Swapna Barman sets women;s High Jump Games record. The National Games has set record high this year. In Hammer competition at National games, the hammer got stuck so high in the netting, a brace volunteer with dahi handi experience was called to save the day. The Hammer throw competition was stopped for some time.
The boxing competition in the National Games held in Gandhinagar got a shot with Olympic bronze medalist Lovlina Borgohain making a last-minute decision to enter the competition. Lovlina had earlier been ruled out of Games after injuring her nose during the trials for Asian boxing championships to be held on October 30 in Amman.
Besides Lovlina, Olympian Simranjit Kaur, Jaismine Lamboria, Jamuna Boro, Ankushita Boro are some of the prominent faces among women who will be seen in action.
