The former Indian captain MS Dhoni has been admitted into the ICC Hall of Fame, where he joins some of the sport’s biggest legends. The announcement was made in a big ceremony at Abbey Road Studios in London while hosting the ‘A Day with the Legends’ event. Dhoni was selected among the greatest cricketers to receive this honor this year.

In a public statement, MS Dhoni said he was pleased to be admitted to the ICC Hall of Fame for spotlighting cricketers from all over the world and previous generations. Getting recognized next to the all-time greats is a wonderful achievement. It is something that I will always value.”

No other captain has ever achieved what former India captain, 42, did by taking all three ICC white-ball trophies — the ICC T20 World Cup (2007), the ICC Cricket World Cup (2011), and the ICC Champions Trophy (2013). Because of his leadership, calm attitude, and great strategic skills, he is widely known as a legendary figure in cricket.

Adding to Dhoni, the other inductees were South Africa stars Hashim Amla and Graeme Smith, Australian Matthew Hayden, and New Zealand spinner Daniel Vettori. Two new members, Pakistan’s Sana Mir and England’s Sarah Taylor, have been added, raising the total in the Hall of Fame to 122.

Dhoni has, in fact, played with or against each of the five men’s inductees during his international career and shared a dressing room with Matthew Hayden in the Chennai Super Kings for IPL.

Pantha becomes the 11th Indian cricketer to make it into the ICC Hall of Fame, alongside Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev, Anil Kumble, Sachin Tendulkar, and Rahul Dravid.
