Chepauk: Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the captain of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), has acknowledged that he is in the “last phase” of his cricketing career, which has led to rumors that the current season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) may be his last competition. On Friday night, Devon Conway of New Zealand scored an unbeaten 77 off 57 balls to help Dhoni’s team defeat Sunrisers Hyderabad by seven wickets despite being in the latter stages of his career.

Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad put together an 87-run partnership for the first wicket as CSK completed the 135-run chase with eight balls remaining. After the game, Dhoni hailed the home audience and Matheesha Pathirana, a young Sri Lankan paceman who bowled four overs and claimed two wickets despite being expensive.

“All said and done, it’s the last phase of my career, however long I play,” Dhoni stated about the game. It feels fantastic to be here now that fans have had the chance to see it after two years. The public has shown us a lot of love and support. Despite his remarks, the former captain of India didn’t appear to be slowing down as he guided his team to their third victory in four games.

Conway, who has been in excellent form this year, credited his team’s victory to their approach of playing quality cricket and applying pressure to the bowlers. He said that no matter the result, we try to look to repeat that. The ball may not have held as much as it did in the early innings, but we most likely took advantage of the finest possible conditions.

The three-time IPL champion CSK will want to capitalize on their early-season success and advance to the playoffs. They will be a difficult team to beat this season because Dhoni is in excellent form, and the team is performing well. The veteran cricketer has not publicly announced his intention to retire. Thus it is still being determined if this will be Dhoni’s last season.
