Kings XI Punjab made a bodacious return in last year’s IPL. Bouncing back from the poor results, this team stunned the other teams with its prolific comeback.
Ahead of this year’s auction, KXIP served some major progress in upscaling their team. Glenn Maxwell, who failed to impress the franchise will not be seen playing for the team this year. Along with him Afghanistan spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman, West Indies pace bowler Sheldon Cottrell and Jimmy Neeshman will all be replaced.
KXIP is likely to invest a huge sum of Rs 53.20 crore to rejig their team for this year.
Openers
KXIP skipper KL Rahul has been the most proficient performer for the team. Accompanied by his fellow mate Mayank Agarwal gave their squad a solid start.
So, the team doesn’t need to be vexed about this side of the game.
However, if the franchise still looks to replace any of them Mandeep Singh or Alex Hales could likely be an option.
Middle Order
With Glenn Maxwell evicted, KXIP surely needs to look for some international talent that can replace the solicit player.
Bangladeshi all-rounder Shakib al Hasan, who missed the last edition of the tournament with a ban, is now back to sweep the batsmen. Another choice could be an Aussie; Steve Smith who can lend Stability to KXIP’s middle order, which collapsed during the last season.
Fast Bowlers
Mohammed Shami and Arshdeep Singh could be the marquee players to replace Cottrell. They could strengthen the bowling efficiency of the team. Australian players Jhye Richardson and New Zealand’s Adam Milne are also on the list.
