Indian openers started strong against Bangladesh in Women’s Asia Cup today, but a mix-up cost stand-in captain Smriti Mandhana her wicket for 47. Mandhana and Shefali Verma had put on a 96-run opening partnership after they opted to bat.
Mandhana is leading Team India in absence of Harmanpreet Kaur. Mandhana hit three consecutive fours to start off the final over of the Powerplay, with Shefali finding the boundary with the last delivery to help India finish Powerplay, thereby giving India a strong platform.
The Board of Control For Cricket In India (BCCI) Women had tweeted the progress of Women’s Asia Cup as Shefali Verma scores 55 runs in 44 balls.
The Women in Blue are up against the tournament hosts. Earlier, India’s batting experiment had backfired against Pakistan as Harmanpreet-led sife recorded their third loss to traditional rivals in women’s cricket.
